Lately, I’ve been feeling kind of nostalgic about my latest trip in Rome so I’m starting a #tb post.
Like most of you, I love travelling!
Who doesn’t? – this is definately not a question- NOBODY.
First things first. This is not an “all roads lead to Rome” post. This is an “all roads lead to Florence” post because if the first happens then the second is a standar.
Florence is a city located in Tuscany, Italy and is definately one of the “must haves” in your travel goals. A trip to Florence is not a trip to Florence, it is a time travel because the city where Rennaisance was born is a living monument of the Middle-Ages.
My trip to Florence
So, last christmas – nope i didn’t give you my heart- i went on a trip to Rome for 9 days. Due to the fact that I booked my stay through Airbnb, the price was pejoratively low. Okay. I said this is not an “All roads lead to Rome post”. One day before Christmas eve, i was feeling kind of unhappy with the district where we were staying so i took my phone and started looking for a way to get out of there in order to change environment. Lucky me, I found a great offering online so that was it. In 24 hours i was leaving for Florence.
In 1:30 hour I was living one of my dreams. I was in Florence. Fortunately, the hotel was perfect and located near Ponte Vecchio and next to Arno – Palazzo alfieri residenza d’epoca ( I highly suggest it, it’s a 10/10 )
I have a habit of googling places and finding guides on what to visit so I’ve read somewhere that you have to visit Bardini and Boboli gardens when in Florence. Some say that Bardini are not so famous as Boboli gardens and that they are better…The truth is that Boboli gardens are equally magical as Bardini gardens and what I didn’t know? They are located next to each other – with the Boboli Garden ticket you can go to Bardini gardens too-.
Now I am at the city center enjoying every second every step and what a cliche – the pink sunset, and I CAN’T TAKE A PICTURE OF THE SUNSET AT ARNO BECAUSE I M DRINKING COFFEE. I started crying – no I didn’t.
Back at the hotel room and its Christmas eve. Started googling again to find some place to eat something and I found like 5? 10? 15? Ok, I’m using hyperbole atm. Information of the day: I ate the best pumpkin soup I’ve ever eaten – I VE NEVER EATEN PUMPKIN SOUP IN MY WHOLE LIFE AGAIN AND WHEN I GOT BACK HOME IT WAS THE FIRST THING TO COOK-
Second day in Florence and we have 5 hours til the train leaves this means… BIKE RIDE from central train station til Piazzale Michelangelo( a square located at the other side of Arno River with Panoramic views of the city) and take away espresso shots.
Hello everyone !
I know I didn’t post in a while but I had exams and paper deadlines so i was a studyingholic.
It’s the period that everyone is hitting up the gym , and obsessing over their weight loss in order to have the perfect summer body so I’m gonna write my personal experience on it.
One month ago, i decided to registrate at the gym. Since 2012, i always used to do that but because i have a thing in leaving things that I start i always left it in a period of a week.
This time I am taking it serious and I’ m seeing it not only as my summer body routine but also as something i want to do permanently for me. For my confidence, for getting one step closer to adding a healthy living in my everyday routine.
This is not a reasons why you should go to the gym post or reasons why you should get the perfect body but a post about healthy foods that are beneficial for your health.
- Chia seeds : it’s the new trend and you can add them everywhere, from salads, to meals, to fruits, oatmeals and smoothies. They contain a massive amount of nutritient with very few calories. They contain, fiber, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, protein, as well as antioxidants and are helpful in weight loss. Be careful and don’t overdo it, one tablespoon daily is the perfect dosage.
- Peanut Butter : Since i was in high school, i was always in love with the famous banana*milk*honey smoothie. Back then, i asked from my mum to buy peanut butter in order to check it and I HATED IT. When i read somewhere a recipe of the banana*milk*honey smoothie that also had peanut butter, I baught it again, many years after the first time i’ve tried it and not only it became an addition in my everyday smoothie, i now got used to it and i can eat it instead of merenda/nutella.
- Smoothies : Admit it! You love smoothies. Everybody does. And if u don’ t then that’s because you haven’t found the perfect recipe for you. Not only you can drink it, you can make a bowl out of it, the smoothie bowl and add nuts, chia seeds, fruits, corn flakes, oats and many more. I am not a fan of eating fruits, like many people out there and making fruits dessertish is perfect for getting the amount of vitamins that i wouldn’t be taking if smoothies did not exist. Some of my favorite smoothie flavors are the
banana*milk*honey*peanut butter*chia seeds,
frozen banana*almond milk*spinach
4. Oatmeal : Again, something i didnt’ like until I found the perfect recipe that I read somewhere on the internet . You’ll need coconut milk in a pan, 1 tablespoons honey, 1 cup of oats and for seasoning you’ll need 1 teaspoon of brown sugar and cinammon. Cook them in the pan until they’re smooth and the oats absorb the coconut milk, season with brown sugar and cinammon and blend together. When serving, u can add chia seeds and any fruit you like. I prefer to add banana or blueberries because they are my two favorites.
I will soon post pictures of them, now that I have time because my exams are over.
Remember a healthy lifestyle is not for summer, is for learning to love and treat yourself as it deserves to be treated !!!
Lots of love,
In greek, “μου κάνεις πλάκα” means “are you kidding me?”. The ancient area under Akropolis is called “Plaka” so now you understand the post’s title meaning… The word Plaka has nothing to do with fun. It has urcentain origins but some say that it comes from the greek “Pliak Athens” which means “Old Athens” 😉
It’s one of the most picturesque and ancient places in Athens and has lots of cafeterias and typical greek tavernas in order to enjoy greek salad and souvlaki. Every alley is a labyrinth you can get lost in. The secret is that… shhhhh …. any alley can get you at the top of Plaka, Akropolis vraxakia or Anafiwtika in order to see the magical view of Athens city.
It’s perfect for a Sunday walk even though lots of people go out on Sunday evening and it might get difficult to find a place to sit so the perfect time to go is around 15:00 and then catch up a sunset at Vraxakia.
See you next time
